What to Expect on an UNtour
Is the UNTour RIGHT for you?
Let's be real with each other for a second.
I built the UNTour because I couldn't find a trip that felt right for a solo woman who wanted her own room, a small group of people she'd actually like, and enough breathing room to wander without someone's itinerary running her ragged. That's what you're signing up for. But "small group, built-in space, solo but not alone" doesn't mean "easy, no effort required, show up and be carried around." So before you book, here's the honest version of what this trip asks of you.
The Real Talk.
You'll be on your feet.
Between the walking tours, the cobblestones, the museums, and just generally exploring a beautiful old city, you're going to rack up steps. If you can comfortably walk for a couple of hours at a stretch and handle uneven ground, you're good. If that's a concern, call me first. I'd rather talk it through with you than have you find out the hard way three days in.
Stairs happen.
Historic hotels in historic cities weren't built with elevators in mind. While I do try to find hotels with elevators, sometimes they're out of order. Pack light enough that you can get your own bag up a flight or two.
Charm sometimes means "no A/C and spotty Wi-Fi."
The hotels I pick are centrally located and full of character over corporate polish. That's a feature, not a bug, but it does mean the Wi-Fi might be slower than you're used to and the air conditioning might be more of a suggestion.
You've got free time, and I expect you to use it.
One guided excursion a day is the whole point; it leaves you room to get a little lost, find your own café, or just nap. That means during your unstructured time, you're navigating on your own. I'll always make sure you know how to get around before I turn you loose.
Guides can't play personal assistant.
Our local guides are there to lead the group, not to individually assist with mobility, luggage, or anything else on a one-on-one basis. If you know you'll need that kind of help, bring someone who can provide it, or give me a call beforehand so we can talk through whether this trip is the right fit.
Health and safety calls aren't up for debate.
If I, a guide, or local authorities ask you to take a precaution- anything from handwashing to isolating if you're not feeling well to seeing a doctor at your own expense- that's part of keeping the whole group safe, and it's not optional.
The Vibe.
Here's the one non-negotiable: no drama.
These trips work because everyone shows up ready to be a good travel companion: flexible, kind, and willing to roll with the occasional hiccup. Solo travel already asks a lot of courage; I'm not going to let one person's bad attitude wreck it for the seven other women who showed up ready to have the time of their lives.
I do everything I can to make sure your trip is smooth, joyful, and exactly the kind of adventure you pictured when you booked it. But if someone's behavior puts the safety, comfort, or experience of the group at risk, I reserve the right to ask them to leave the tour, no exceptions, even if that someone is you.
Bottom Line.
This trip is for the woman who's ready to show up, walk a lot, laugh more, and trust the process even when it looks a little different than home. If that's you, you're going to love this. And if you have any doubts at all about whether you're physically ready, reach out before you book. I'd much rather have that conversation now than on day three in a foreign country.
Solo, but not alone.
